In recent months, City of Asheville acquired the Ramada Inn near the River Ridge Shopping Center. The city has used the hotel to house the homeless. Since then, drug dealers and addicts have been creating chaos for the shopping plaza. Needles and trash litter cover the grounds, and addicts are seen sleeping outside. Two drug related murders were tied directly to the homeless shelter. City Council now wants to force law abiding citizens to accept this dangerous activity by formalizing the adoption of low barrier shelters.
